Anyone who enjoys visiting Pigeon Forge will be excited to know about the newest development surrounding one of the area’s most popular family attractions! WonderWorks, the indoor amusement park with lots of interesting and fun exhibits, is well-known for its distinctive look, as the building itself is upside-down. However, that will all be changing soon as the attraction is being reimagined!
Legend has it that WonderWorks was originally a top-secret research lab in the Bermuda Triangle, but was displaced by an experiment gone wrong, and ended up upside-down along the parkway in Pigeon Forge. Now, after many years of welcoming visitors in its upside-down state, WonderWorks is finally going to be flipped right-side-up!
“We are so thrilled so be announcing this exciting new step for our attraction,” said Project Director April Phule. “Although this will be a logistically challenging task to complete, we believe that it is the right time to move forward with this project. WonderWorks has been a go-to spot for families to have a great time here in Pigeon Forge for many years, and by changing the orientation of our building, we will open up many new possibilities going forward.”
The initial phases of the project will involve bolting all of the existing exhibits into place, so that when the building is eventually hoisted by crane and rotated, there will be no damage to the interior. Once the building has been flipped around, visitors will have the option to experience the attractions in their new orientation, or opt for a classic upside-down experience that allows guests to be tethered to the ceiling, for those who prefer the original orientation of the attraction.
In addition, there will be a viewing party for those who are interested in watching the building get flipped around. The date has not yet been announced, but it is expected that there will be tailgating in the parking lot as a crane hooks the building, and turns it around to its new orientation.
“This is a great opportunity for families to come and see the next step in our constant innovation here at our attraction in Pigeon Forge,” said April Phule. “We are always looking for new and exciting ways to improve the entertainment value of our attraction, and flipping WonderWorks around is sure to be the event of the year.”
