Whether there is a restaurant opening up for your dining pleasure, a new show for an evening of entertainment, or the debut of a thrilling attraction, you can always count on seeing something different! Here are 4 exciting new attractions in the Smoky Mountains you need to experience:
1. Gatlinburg SkyTrail at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park
Gatlinburg SkyLift Park is already one of the most popular destinations in the Smokies, but things are getting even better with the addition of the Gatlinburg SkyTrail! This scenic walkway offers guests the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll in the mountains while enjoying views of the famous SkyBridge, which is the longest suspended pedestrian bridge in North America. The Gatlinburg SkyTrail features three distinct sections, including the Boardwalk elevated wooden walkway, the Lookout steel tower with elevated viewing platforms, and the Pathway smooth walking path.
2. Country Roads Axe Company
Another one of the exciting new attractions in the Smoky Mountains you need to experience is the Country Road Axe Company in Pigeon Forge! This unique entertainment venue combines axe throwing with a full service bar, self-serve adult beverage system, and a full service pizza restaurant! If you are not familiar with axe throwing, this is a one of the fastest growing leisure activities in the USA and is a fun target game that is essentially played the same as darts! After reviewing the rules and safety procedures, you are ready to throw axes to compete for the highest score.
3. Flying Theater Ride at The Island in Pigeon Forge
Take your Smoky Mountain vacation to new heights aboard the Flying Theater Ride at the Island in Pigeon Forge. This incredible attraction combines a state-of-the-art ride system and a custom film with some of the nation’s most beautiful natural wonders and iconic landmarks! During the virtual flight, you will experience the movements, sounds, scents, and mists of a breathtaking aerial adventure across the United States! The new flying theater is located adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, a 200-foot observation wheel, and The Island’s multi-million dollar show fountain.
4. CoasterKart at Rowdy Bear Ridge
One of the most innovative new attractions in the Smoky Mountains is the CoasterKart at Rowdy Bear Ridge in Pigeon Forge. The track for this attraction is based upon the popular Wiegand mountain coaster, which has over 250 installations across the globe including several in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg! However, the CoasterKart is different from a traditional alpine coaster as it is a powered ride system with electrical bars installed in the track to power the karts. The 2 passenger vehicles allow you to ride side-by-side with your family members and friends, and the speed is controlled by a foot brake instead of a hand brake!
